Topping the list of over 150 speakers, seminar leaders and panelists set to appear at the Fifth Annual PowerNetworking Conference in Atlanta this summer, Black America’s largest networking event, are such notable names as Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson has appeared on popular talk shows, taught academic courses on gangsta rap and hip-hop music, and even testified before congressional subcommittees on various issues of concern to black Americans. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson has written many books that are looked upon in hip-hop culture as ‘classics’. Some of his titles include: ’Making Malcolm: The Myth and Meaning of Malcolm X’, ‘I May Not Get There With You: The True Martin Luther King Jr.’, and ‘Between God and Gangsta Rap’. In 2001 Dyson published a book on the life of hip-hop icon, the late rap artist Tupac Shakur (2Pac) titled, ‘Hollar if You Hear Me: Searching for Tupac Shakur’ which is a mainstay in hip-hop reading topics. Dr. Cornel West is a Princeton professor, theologian, activist and prolific author. Dr. Cornel West has presented the facts of today's world in terms and forums not only directed toward academia, but also to those of us in everyday life that actually live it. Dr. West has won numerous awards, including the American Book Award, and has received more than 20 honorary degrees. Some of his books are Race Matters, Keeping Faith, and Democracy Matters. Dr. Cornel West also has many hip-hop orientated cd’s available. The acclaimed Hip-Hop album Sketches Of My Culture, and his follow-up, titled Street Knowledge. Dr. Julianne Malveaux, Reverend Al Sharpton and Reverend Jesse Jackson are also included in the line up for Fifth Annual PowerNetworking Conference that seems unimaginable.
