On Domestic Violence Awareness Month, GRAMMY(R) award-winning band, Los Lonely Boys, has joined forces with Verizon Wireless and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) to raise money for and awareness of domestic violence prevention in the Latino community.

With their unique blend of Tex-Mex, rock and roll and soulful harmonies, Los Lonely Boys have won great acclaim winning numerous awards, including a GRAMMY for Best Pop Performance by a Vocal Duo or Group earlier this year. The trio's eclectic sound, as Henry Garza describes it, is a cross between Stevie Ray meets Santana, Jimi Hendrix meets Richie Valens, or the Beatles meet Ronnie Milsap. The band has shared the stage with music icons, rocking out with legends such as Carlos Santana, and the band is scheduled to open for the Rolling Stones this fall.

On October 7, the band will perform a special charity concert at The Vault350 in Long Beach, Calif., with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting two Los Angeles-area charities -- Interval House, an award winning domestic violence program that provides crisis shelter programs, outreach prevention programs, and comprehensive support services for victims of domestic violence in 40 languages -- with a specialization in serving Latino victims, and the Lincoln-Juarez Opportunity Center (LJOC), which helps the Latino community by connecting clients with low- or no-cost education, employment, health care and immigration service providers.

"Domestic Violence Awareness Month is the perfect time to take more action to support organizations like Interval House that work to provide vital assistance to victims and families from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds that are affected by this terrible social problem," said Oscar Madrid, director of multicultural marketing of Verizon Wireless. "We are extremely grateful to Los Lonely Boys and to Samsung for joining forces with us to make this charity concert a reality and allowing us to continue our campaign against domestic violence as reflected by our national program HopeLine."

"Samsung is proud to partner with Los Lonely Boys and our customer,

Verizon Wireless," said Randy Smith, vice president of Samsung's wireless terminals division. "This sponsorship reflects our company's history of supporting community programs and initiatives, as well as our commitment and connection to the Hispanic community."

Verizon Wireless is a recognized corporate leader in the area of domestic violence prevention. The company works to prevent domestic violence and raise awareness of the issue through the company's HopeLine(R) program. HopeLine, currently in its 10th year, collects wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider, and then refurbishes the phones or recycles them in an environmentally friendly way. Proceeds from the HopeLine program benefit victims of domestic violence and non-profit advocacy agencies, providing essential communication tools of wireless phones and wireless services and financial grants. Since the beginning of 2005, HopeLine has collected more than 520,000 wireless phones and has donated nearly $400,000 in grants to domestic violence prevention agencies.

"We are honored to work with Verizon Wireless and Samsung to raise money for two great organizations," said Los Lonely Boys'' guitarist Henry Garza. "The funds should help the Interval House and the Lincoln-Juarez Opportunity Center continue their work to help Hispanics and people from all backgrounds in need."
