DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Rapper Tone Loc collapsed on stage while performing in Iowa this weekend.

Loc, whose real name is Anthony T. Smith, collapsed after finishing a song during a Saturday night concert on a bridge in downtown Des Moines, according to the Des Moines Register (http://dmreg.co/ZAFc0j ). Three of the newspaper's employees who were at the show said people attended to Loc, 47, for several minutes before fans were asked to leave.

Loc's condition wasn't immediately clear Sunday. He wasn't listed publicly as a patient at any Des Moines hospital, and no one answered the phone Sunday morning at the bar that sponsored the concert.

Loc's representative did not immediately respond to phone and email messages Sunday.

It wasn't the rapper's first time collapsing on stage. Loc, who is best known for his 1980s hits "Funky Cold Medina" and "Wild Thing," collapsed and had a seizure during a 2009 concert in Pensacola, Fla. Authorities said he had apparently overheated.

Loc also collapsed in 1995 while attending a Los Angeles Lakers game. The reason he collapsed wasn't given.

Loc has also appeared in a number of television shows and movies, including "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" with Jim Carrey and "Heat" with Al Pacino. Loc has also been the voice of several animated characters.

Rapper Lil Wayne suffers seizure PDF Print E-mail

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Grammy-winning and multiplatinum-selling rapper Lil Wayne suffered a seizure and "is recovering," his record label's publicist said Friday.

"I'm good everybody," read a message on Lil Wayne's Twitter account. "Thnx for the prayers and love."

While acknowledging a medical issue, members of the New Orleans' artist's camp shot down reports that he was near death.

"Dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe ... that's false!!" tweeted Mack Maine, the president of Lil Wayne's Young Money label, around 5:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. ET) Friday.

Sarah Cunningham, a publicist with the Young Money record label, acknowledged that Lil Wayne had a seizure.

The public relations department at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, the Los Angeles hospital where the rapper is reportedly being treated, did not confirm or deny that Lil Wayne is there, per its policy.

Maine didn't offer much detail, though he did say that he and Lil Wayne had been watching the Syracuse University Orange play Georgetown in the Big East men's basketball tournament.

"Wayne is alive and well!" the record label president wrote on Twitter.

The rapper's independent publicist, Kia Selby, said only, "Lil Wayne is doing well." She strongly denied reports he was in a medically induced coma, as reported by TMZ.

Born Dwayne Carter, Lil Wayne is one of the rap world's most successful artists. He won best rap album for "Tha Carter III" at the 2008 Grammy awards, and took home three more Grammys the following year.

Beyond winning over critics, he's also been a commercial success. Last September, Billboard reported the rapper had tallied 109 hits on its Hot 100, surpassing the record previously held by Elvis Presley.

But he's also run into trouble outside the studio and stage.

Lil Wayne was arrested in 2007 outside New York City's Beacon Theater after police said they found a .40-caliber pistol on his tour bus. He ended up pleading guilty to felony gun charges and spending eight months at New York's Rikers Island jail.

In 1994, Hector Gonzalez became the heir to the Eddie Davis Recording and Publishing Estate, The Rampart Record Group and The Faro Music Publishing Group (a division of Gordo Enterprises). He relinquished his position at CBS Television City to administer these companies and license a vast music catalog dating back to 1958 for CD compilations, film and television. Since 1960, Rampart Records has been devoted almost exclusively to the development of Mexican American Talent known on the West Coast as “The Eastside Sound.”

Eddie Davis was a child actor and successful restaurateur and is quoted as saying, “If anybody thinks I got rich over my East Los Angeles music, they’re wrong. I cooked a lot of hamburgers to make those records.” Rampart Records contributed to what is known as the Eastside Sound music and included such bands as Cannibal and the Headhunters, which opened for the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Bobby Brown has been sentenced to 55 days in a Los Angeles jail and four years of probation for a drunken driving case.

City attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan (mah-tell-JIN') says Brown was sentenced Tuesday after pleading no contest to charges he was under the influence and driving on a suspended license when he was arrested in October.

Brown was on probation for another DUI case at the time.

The 44-year-old "New Edition" singer was ordered to report to jail March 20. He also was placed on four years of informal probation and will be required to complete an 18-month alcohol treatment program.

Brown's attorney Tiffany Feder had no immediate comment on the sentence.

The sentence was first reported by celebrity website TMZ.
