He has studied film at San Francisco State University and the Film Arts Foundation. In 2002 he co-founded The Hip Hop Film Fest, a traveling festival of films and videos dealing with hip hop music and culture. He won The California New Media Award for Best Documentarian in 2003, as well as awards at SF Black Film Festival, Woodstock & Santa Fe Film Fests.
