Everyone knows that Las Vegas is renowned for many things; after all, it’s known as “Sin City.” The city is even currently running a national advertising campaign based solely around those attributes “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” However, there is one group, The Chapter (which consists of gifted emcee Verbal E and talented producer 3Sixty--both originally hail from Chicago), trying to refute that age old adage, as they are well on there way to becoming the first breakout Hip-Hop group from Las Vegas. Already recognized as a group to watch because of there organic sound and vibe, similar to Little Brother, The Chapter has already been given the stamp of approval from The Roots ?uestlove, who first discovered the group while putting together Okayplayer’s debut compilation True Notes Vol.1, as The Chapter became one of just two then unsigned groups selected to be included on the LP from the over 5,000 tracks that were submitted; as ?uestlove stated “basically, I let the staff make their selection, but I wanted this one (The Chapter’s “For The Wreckord”) in particular to make the album.” ?uest is so impressed with The Chapter, he even leads off The Chapter’s debut, Us Vs. Them, with some very glowing commentary on the group and their very bright future. In addition, Nicolay of Foreign Exchange also contributes two remixes to The Chapter’s debut and The Chapter’s 3Sixty will be contributing tracks to MF Doom’s upcoming MM Food/Leftovers LP. With their sound inline with timeless artists such as Quincy Jones and The Roots and emotive lyrics from Verbal E that specifically relate to the nine-to-fivers, The Chapter is poised to take Hiphop music into the future with their soulful chemistry and energetic live performances. As 3Sixty laments, the title of The Chapter’s debut LP, Us Vs. Them, contains a message that the group takes very much to heart “you’re either with us, to help US make a positive move with good music, or you’re Them trying to hold us back.” The Chapter’s debut, Us Vs. Them, will be released on 5-24-05 Track listing and credits for The Chapter’s Us Vs. Them (all tracks produced by 3Sixty unless otherwise noted): 1.) Live From The Devils Den (additional vocals by ?uestlove) 2.) Life In The City 3.) This Thing 4.) …I Do Despise 5.) Soundwave Slavery 6.) Way Out 7.) Pop Said 8.) On Ten 9.) Time Is Now 10.)
