Many hip-hop and rap artists have found themselves ''charged'' with crimes, and later are found not guilty of those charges. This is not the case in the case of New Orleans rap artist Tab "Turk" Virgil.

New Orleans rap artist Turk, one of the original Hot Boy members and a solo artist on Cash Money Records, was convicted August 9th on three weapons charges and faces 5 to 10 years in prison.

The jury took less than 5 hours to convict the rapper, who is also facing an attempted murder charge (of a Memphis deputy sheriff) stemming from the same incident that landed him these weapons charges.

Last April, Turk released his latest album ‘Penitentiary Chances’. At that time we interviewed him via phone from the maximum-security prison in Tennessee. You can see that interview HERE.

No trial date has been set for the attempted murder charge. Turk will be sentenced on the weapons conviction on October 26th.
