We live in a world that is ever evolving just as its people are. A Global economy that is just as polarized as American Politics. Wake Up, America!!!  The transformation is here and finally we have entered a new era of people politics.  No longer are the days when we as a people have to rely on the information delivered from paid talking heads on television. At the speed in which information travels it’s not shocking that the Global economy is just as transformational.  This new Global economy will require that the private and public sector evolve at a paste more rapidly than ever. There are so many big issues to be addressed today such as JOBS; global warming; the cost and benefits of technology and last but not least better education for all.

We as a country should no longer be duped by any political party stuck in the past, and bent on maintaining the status quo. Today more than ever there are real problems and the financial discourse on Wall Street has severely affected the well-being of those on Main Street. Looking back at history, it’s well known that during the non progress era there was enough anger over welfare and affirmative action that it brought about another transformation that would come to be known as the Reagan revolution. Fast forwarding to exactly twenty years ago, this democracy embarked on a new wave of politics when one of the most astute politicians took the stage and changed politics forever. He stated that there were fundamental questions that we should ask: One of those questions was how we make the American Dream of opportunity a reality for all Americans.

During this period we experienced the essence of people’s politics and ironically, this change resulted in a great period of growth and prosperity for all Americans.  Moving ahead to the last decade during an era where our democracy was challenged by a few, the country was plunged into the worst economic period in decades, with ‘greed’ at its root.  The country was temporarily thrown into utter chaos and disarray. Finally, someone with the audacity to question the status quo with a transformational message of “hope and change” presented bold new leadership.  This too, however, was seriously derailed two years into its existence by the advent of a new but very vocal and disruptive group chanting slogans like “let’s take our country back.”

Regrettably, “pragmatism” and “compromise” have become dirty words in this new democracy.  All we can seem to focus on is the things that make us different and drive us apart, rather than encourage the common goals we share. Someone once said, “this nation is more than the sum of its parts, and out of many we are one”. If we truly cared about the American dream we must accept that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together. With this year’s election shaping up as it is, the American electorate’s role and responsibility is being tested, and we should ensure that every vote counts. There are those who set out to oppose and suppress the rights of the people to vote. Today I am proud to say I truly believe that there is no liberal or conservative America there is only the United States of America. Together, we pledge allegiance to the same flag, and together we can help Transform America.
