RED Distribution and Houston based Wreckshop Records have reached an exclusive distribution agreement effective immediately. Wreckshop was formed in 1997 by ambitious founder and visionary Derrick “Dwreck” Dixon. In the late 90’s Dixon met a Houston area MC by the name of Fat Pat, already a member of the infamous Screwed Up Click, a Houston based collective led by the legendary DJ Screw. In the summer of ''98 Wreckshop released Fat Pat's debut album “Ghetto Dreams” selling over 200K units. Unfortunately, Pat was killed before he could enjoy the record's success. The Wreckshop Family would carry his legacy forward, releasing a collection of classic Fat Pat Hits entitled “Fat Pat and the Wreckshop Family, Throwed in The Game” which has sold over 100K units. Wreckshop Records went on to sign ESG and Big Moe also from The Screwed Up Click. Big Moe's debut album “City of Syrup” has soundscanned 179K units, and ESG’s “City Under Siege” has scanned 66K units. Wreckshop Records along with Swish A House are pioneering labels bringing forth a new southern school of rap music called “Screwed and Chopped” best represented by current Swish A House artist Mike Jones who’s album “Who Is Mike Jones” was just certified Platinum by the RIAA. Wreckshop Records is already powerhouse in Houston and will soon be a powerhouse nationwide through their partnership with RED. For more info, check out www.dawreckshop.com |
