During the past few weeks of March, rap artist Storm The Unpredictable has garnered a swarm of prestigious, and well deserved, local awards; including winning first place in the Hip-Hop/Urban/Dance/Go-Go category of the Songwriters Association of Washington’s Songwriting (The Songwriters’ Association of Washington “SAW” is a non-profit organization founded in 1979 to benefit aspiring and professional songwriters) competition for “Contradictions” and the grand prize winner in the Hip-Hop category of the John Lennon Songwriting Competition Session II for “Contradictions.” 

The judges of the John Lennon Songwriting Competition consisted of hip-hop group D-12, Al Jarreau, Lyfe Jennings, Teairra Mari, John Legend and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, as well as other music industry professionals and veterans. 

Storm also was a runner-up in John Lennon competition for another song “Darker The Berry” (which can be found on Storm’s debut Amalgamation).  Storm is now competing against the Session I winner in an online voting battle which began March 15th at 11AM and will end on April 26th for the John Lennon Award.

The 12 Lennon Award Winners will be announced on May 1st and then go on to compete for the Maxell Song of the Year and $20,000.

Similarly, in February 2006, Storm received the rap/hip-hop artist of the year award from the Washington Area Music Association.  WAMA is a non-profit tax exempt organization of music industry professionals committed to raising the profile of the region's diverse music community. WAMA's main goal is to promote Washington area music in general and to achieve national recognition of the region as an important center for live and recorded music. Just as the nation's capital is comprised of a rich cross section of cultures, WAMA's membership embraces all musical styles from classical, bluegrass, go-go, R&B and Reggae, to Rock, Jazz and Folk.

“In Case You Forgot” is the lead-single from Storm’s forthcoming sophomore release, A2: What Should Have Been, which will be released in the Spring of 2006 on Ty-She Ent./SPP Waxworks/Domination Recordings and the joint venture will ensure Storm’s sophomore LP has a national and international presence in regular retail outlets, chains, mom-and-pop stores as well as online stores. 

A2: What Should Have Been will feature production and guest appearances from Decompose (DC), Brainstorm Sounds, DJ Symphoni, Danja Mowf, C. Walker a.k.a. Kokayi, The Unknown and Priest da nomad.
