Again, hip hop has proved itself as the CNN of the streets, as KRS-One once said.

Unfortunately rap artist The Game's lyrics, in his song "Start From Scratch," the message came too late. It's been eight years since the loss of rapper Notorious B.I.G. and when The Game rapped, "I woulda told ''Pac not to stomp out Orlando, told Puffy and Big about the Rampart scandal," it touched a soft spot in the heart of hip hop.

Many will be glad to know that the scandal rapped about in The Game's lyrics had its day in court.

According to the New York Times, the city of Los Angeles is paying $70 million for the role that some LAPD officers played in framing victims, robbing suspects and engaging in pervasive pattern of brutality and other misconduct.

Many believe, including RHD detective Russell Poole, that there's a link between the murder of NY rap artist Biggie and the scandal that shined another bad light on the LAPD.

Be sure to pick up VIBE magazine’s May 2005 issue, “Hip Hop Murders.” Three writers look at the possible conspiracy surrounding the murder cases of west coast rap icon Tupac Shakur, and NY legends Biggie and Jam Master Jay.
