The Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop Filmmakers Caucus NFP is assisting UK filmmaker Danny Lomax in making connections with local filmmakers.

Danny Lomax of Manchester, England-based Glass Eye Productions is in Greater Chicagoland through Sunday afternoon to make connections with filmmakers in the region.

Much of the film and television industry donated by London is moving to Manchester, Chicago is rebounding as a major film and television market, and Danny wants to create film industry-conductive venues that allow filmmakers to have their work screened on both sides of the Pond beyond the digital congestion of a YouTube and other cyberspace.

The Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop Filmmakers Caucus NFP--a not-for-profit organized out to economically and creatively develop the urban filmmaking industry in the counties of Southeast Wisconsin, Northeastern Illinois, and Northwest Indiana--has already made a tentative appointment for Danny with the celebrated Sam Greenlee.

About the Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop Filmmakers Caucus NFP

The Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop Filmmakers Caucus NFP was founded Jan. 15, 2006, at the Thank God For Hip-Hop Film Festival & Action Conference organized by the Chicago Local Organizing Committee of the National Hip-Hop Political Convention and the not-for-profit hip-hop community development corporation the Chicago Hip-Hop Initiative NFP at Kennedy-King College on Chicago's Southwest Side. Among the founders were Mark F. Armstrong of DuSablean Enterprises, Inc., chair; Deri Tyton, 1st vice chair; Kristina Bell of Reel Soul, Inc., 2d vice chair; Mark Harris of 1555 Filmworks, 3d vice chair; Elliot Porter of N2FilmN, elector at large. Elridge Valentine is secretary tresurer. With Messr. Armstrong, Valentine, and Tyton constituing its first board of directors, the Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop NFP was incorporated Jun. 22, 2006, as a domestic not-for-profit corporation of Illinois. Sam Greenlee--author, screenwriter, and producer for "The Spook Who Sat by the Door," is a lifetime member.

The Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop Filmmakers Caucus NFP votes using the Iowa caucus method employed during presidential elections and operates according to a platform and agenda that's periodically reviewed and revised by the organization. Caucus members work closely with the Chicago Hip-Hop Initiative NFP and the filmmaker networking organization Making Connections to act as quasi-labor organization, film office, consultant, and film events planner and organization for Wisilliana (the counties of Northeastern Illinois, Southeast Wisconsin, and Northwest Indiana).

Currently the Greater Chicagoland Hip-Hop Filmmakers Caucus NFP is concerned with acting as the official film organizing body for Chicago Hip-Hop Heritage Month in July and especially for related events occuring during the 2006 National Hip-Hop Political Convention meeting in Chicago Jul. 19-23, helping the Black Harvest International Film & Video Festival identify and secure hip-hop selections and organize a panel or workshop related to hip-hop during the first two weeks of August, and organizing the competitive Chicago Hip-Hop Film Fellowship (possibly again this year at the African Festival of the Arts in Chicago's Washington Park). Membership is open to all urban filmworkers in the Wisilliana region. You may contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
