Hip-hop / rap mogul and Death Row Records CEO Marion 'suge'' Knight has filed a $106-million lawsuit against convicted drug dealer and murderer Michael ‘Harry O’ Harris. Mr. Marion ‘Suge’ Knight has time and again denied that in 1991 ‘Harry O’ ever invested $1.5 million to help launch Death Row Records. On Friday the legal representative for Knight, Dermot Givens, said that Harris was a federal informant who invented “a scheme to blackmail various entertainment industry entities” by threatening to sue over his alleged drug money investments. Knight alleges that Harris and his attorneys, David Casselman and Steven Goldberg, initiated a lawsuit lodged against him by Harris’ wife, Lydia Harris, seeking $107-million. Mrs. Harris won the lawsuit but according to Suge’s attorney Givens, she later settled for $1-million and selected rights to Death Row music. *It should be noted that over the years Suge Knight has been looked at as the ‘Hood Bank’ by a lot of the rap and hip-hop artists he has helped and it appears people suing at every corner, the main stream press attacking at every other corner and it is good to see him striking back. Marion ‘Suge’ Knight built one of the largest black owned businesses in the country; and the biggest black owned record company except for Motown. He has brought ‘classic’ hip-hop, rap and gangsta rap to the table via Death Row Records. Death Row Records was home to some of the biggest names in hip-hop, rap and gangsta rap. Artists like Tupac (2Pac), Snoop Dogg, Dr, Dre, Daz, Kurupt, Crooked I and the list goes on. With over 50 million units sold world wide and 750 million in revenue to his credits, Suge Knights Death Row Records was and should be a power to deal with – and either thru jealousy or what ever reason, Suge Knight always appears to be on every ones target list and it is (like we said) good to see him striking back. |
