            Marion 'suge'' Knight

The Vibe Awards incident has shaken many in rap and hip-hop. But the biggest tragedy of that night was the blatant attacks against Suge Knight.

What ‘shakes’ me is the reporting that went on, and the rumors that were fueled towards one successful black businessman.

First reports had Suge Knight throwing chairs and grabbing the mic at the awards show after the melee broke out. All indications were that this was a Death Row attack toward Dr. Dre; with Suge Knight involved somehow.

Shaheem Reid from MTV has changed his stories several times. The reports of Suge ‘throwing chairs’ and ‘grabbing the mic’ to hurl insults at G-Unit apparently wiped from the record. Were these reporters even at this award ceremony?

Knight - real first name Marion -kicked things off by shouting "F-ck the G-Unit" from the stage. Later, Dr. Dre, who was receiving a lifetime achievement awards from Quincy Jones and Snoop Dogg, was punched in the face while at his seat in the front row. With bodyguards leaping in, a Simpsons-style brawl soon followed in which a 26-year-old man was stabbed.

There has been a history of violence between Knight’s Death Row Records camp and Dre’s Aftermath collective since Dre fell out with Knight and left Death Row. Dre took out an injunction against Knight when he was released from a five year jail term for assault back in 2001.

When Suge is in a room or near by and anything happens, of course all eyez are on Suge. This is pure hate towards Suge Knight.

The internet is a news source that once you put it out there, you can not really retrieve it.

Many sites and on line news organizations are still looking towards Suge for some involvement or reporting he had something to do with this.

They ‘reviewed’ the tape later, apparently dissecting it trying to find something to charge Suge Knight with and they found that Young Buck of G-Unit is one of the men they now want to talk to and have a warrant out for.

With the police hating on Suge and the reporters twisting every little thing to make a man look guilty before the facts are known is outrageous.

Reporting is supposed to be a neutral thing. Report the facts not your bias towards an individual.

Suge Knight is not a perfect man and I know that there are no ‘perfect’ men walking around. But to just make up things or to twist things or bring up old feuds and acient history to make headlines is just careless reporting.

Of course we all know the differences that Suge and Dre and for that matter a lot of others in that room HAD at one time; but what is the relevance?

Snoop had a problem with Dr. Dre at one time, so why was that not reported? How many others in that room had disagreements with Dre or others over the years, and they were not made into headlines?

In an interview Suge said ‘Don’t look at me, if I had something to do with it I’d claim it. I’m not an idiot’. Of course he is not an idiot. He is the founder of a black owned record label which made history as one of the most successful black owned companies in this country. He has given many artists their ‘break’ and this is the thanks he gets; hate from all coasts.

So as this all goes down and the police can not find Yong Buck or are not looking to hard we can see as the dust settles in all this that there is one thing apparent, Marion ‘Suge’ Knight will not be up for any ‘Legend’ award soon. The hate showed toward him by people who apparently are in the position to ‘make opinions’ is on called for. This type of dim-witted reporting and jumping to conclusions pointing out ‘history’ for headlines is just bad reporting.

All the facts are not known yet, but one thing is for sure if they had proof that Suge had anything to do with this, he would already be in custody.

Stop the hating and give reasonable truthful reporting, that is all we can ask. Be big enough to give respect and props where they are deserved and don''t jump to self fueled conclusions.
