Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge Jane Cutler Greenspan today helped hip-hop rap artist Cassidy to build on his ‘street creditability’. The judge sentenced the rapper to 11 1/2 to 23 months in prison, after finding him guilty of involuntary manslaughter and 2 counts of aggravated assault. Cassidy, aka Barry Reese, follows the likes of fellow rap and hip-hop artists like C-Murder, Turk, Lil Kim, and on and on with getting caught up in the system, leaving the hip-hop community to wonder why these kinds of things happen when these artists seem to have so much going for themselves. The judge told the rap artist at sentencing "You could be a leader in the community," the judge said. "All those guns — that's why Desmond is gone now, because of all those guns." Prosecutors had sought a first-degree murder conviction but said they were satisfied with the verdict. The rap artist has been locked down since his arrest in June, so he can be back on the streets in a few months. |
