As a part of Chicago Public Schools'' initiative to help inspire and motivate local students in education, hip-hop super rapper Twista, along with Mayor Richard Daley, will take over Choir Academy and help highlight the importance of education and pursuing one's dreams.

On Thursday, October 27, Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated Hip-Hop Rap superstar Twista will go "back to school" as he hosts the 9th Annual "Principal for a Day" at the Choir Academy Charter School in the heart of Chicago

As "Principal for a Day," Twista hopes to offer insight from his experiences in the music industry to inspire the local students at this performing arts-based school. Twista continues to bring pride to Chicago as his new album, "The Day After," which released this past week, is already topping the charts and causing a stir in its first week.

As one of hip-hop's most in-demand MCs, working with such notable hip-hop and rap stars such as Jay-Z, Ludacris, P. Diddy, Mariah Carey and Kanye West to name a few, Twista hopes to offer inspiration and advice to students at the Choir Academy.

"I think it's important for artists to come back to their communities and help inspire the youth," said Twista. "When you''re young, sometimes it's hard to stay focused on your dreams, especially in music. Hopefully, I can inspire these young students to stay focused and never give up on their dreams."

"Principal for a Day" will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Choir Academy Charter School is located at 3737 South Paulina Street.

About the Choir Academy Charter School

The Choir Academy is a performing arts-based school inspired by the Boys Choir of Harlem. Originated as a partnership between the Chicago Children's Choir and Chicago Public Schools, The Choir Academy is the first and only Charter School in Chicago that uses the Choral music experience to motivate its students. The school's Treble Choir is nationally acclaimed with appearances on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" with Mariah Carey, affording them the privilege of participating in notable events with Twista, esteemed Grammy Artists, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, nationally televised Inauguration of Senator Emil Jones, Jr. and producers from all musical genres.
