Zapp revolutionized the electro computer pop sound of the 80's with their trademark vocoder talk box vocals and hypnotic grooves. The first single from their debut album "More Bounce To The Ounce" became a world wide smash propelling the premier release up into the Top 20 pop charts achieving gold status. Roger Troutman, Zapps flamboyant captain, followed the success by releasing his solo debut album, The Many Facets of Roger featuring his vocoderized talk box cover of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." His album duplicated Zapp's success with sales of over 500,000 units. Zapp II was released in 1982 and proved just as popular as the group's first release spawning Zapp's first number one R&B single, "Dance Floor." Zapp & Roger toured relentlessly while continuing to produce and play with other artists, During this time Zapp became one of music's (MC Hammer, Kriss Kross, Blackstreet, Michael and Janet Jackson, rap artist Ice Cube, hip-hop / rap producer and rapper Dr. Dre, rap icon Tupac Shakur and the west coast rapper Snoop Dogg) most sampled artists. It was his talk box that graced Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur’s (2Pac) Top Ten 1996 single "California Love." In 1993 Roger & Zapp released All The Greatest Hits which is their best selling album ever earning Zapp & Roger their first platinum record.

Mr. Capone-E, enlists the talents of Zapp to re-record Rap versions of Zapp's biggest hits with Zapp! All tracks are produced by Terry "Zapp" Troutman, the talk box master, including "Hatevine" (I Heard It Through The Grapevine), "Westside" (California Love) "Beware" (Heartbreaker) plus 12 more Zapp produced tracks. Zapp & Mr. Capone-E combine their Old School/New School talents for a historical release. As an added bonus, Ol'' Skool Music Vol.1 features a remix of Mr. Capone-E's smash "My Angel", featuring Magic of the NB Ridaz.
