A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a man who organized a hip-hop rap concert in which rap artist Lil’ Flip was never informed that he was part of the show. Scott Elkins organized last weekend's Lil'' Flip Spring Fest 2005 under the name of Bobby West Productions, police said. He was being sought on a warrant charging him with three counts of theft. The event, at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds on April 2, attracted more than 1,000 people. Hip-hop rap artist Lil'' Flip was never aware that his name was being used to promote the concert, city police Detective Michele Barrett said. Missouri police said Elkins was arrested on a traffic violation April 3 and was detained on an arrest warrant in New Mexico for fraud under similar circumstances, Barrett said. She said Missouri authorities found several messages from people involved with the Indiana concert on Elkins'' cell phone and contacted Terre Haute police. Elkins posted a $10,000 cash bond and left before additional charges could be filed, Barrett said. Elkins also is listed on a warrant from North Dakota, using the name Peter Schwartz, accused of theft by deception. Barrett said two stores that sold tickets for the concert and a radio station that promoted it were not involved in the scam. "They were basically victims, also," she said. |
