Sometimes among some in the hip-hop community, it seems school and books take a ‘back seat’ to the street life and dreams of becoming a rap artist.
The power of knowledge is not stressed enough in many homes or among peers. Getting good grades is looked at as being not cool or out of touch with the real street world. Well if you are a student who strives for those A’s, and it seems you are fighting an uphill battle just too graduate high school, MTV wants to hear from you for a documentary called ‘Making The Grade’. This is a great opportunity for youths to let MTV know what is going on in your life.
True Life is looking for people who are working hard to get good grades and go to college in a school, family or community where that is seen as "selling out." If you get teased by your friends & family for your drive to do well at school, then they want to hear from you.
