Ice Cube Among the winners at the 2005 Soul Train Music Awards, which included Usher, Alicia Keys, and Jay-Z; Ice Cube was acknowledged with the Quincy Jones Award for Lifetime Achievement. Cube thanked fans for the support. He has emerged from a west coast rap artist, former member of NWA, to current hits with his film career. ( Cube is a former member of NWA, has a solo rap career and is a member of the group Westside Connection, and has many films to his credit.) Cube also had some words of ‘thanks’ for his children: "You know, you been my backbone since 1989 and my kids, you know my kids, Darryl, Shea, Kareema, Sharif, they put up with all my big ideas, you know, since I''ve been doing this thing." Being only 35 years old is a young age for a lifetime achievement award; but Ice Cube isn’t done yet - "I said I hope they give out two because when I''m 70 I plan to get another one. Yeah, you know, I still feel like I''ve got a lot to do. I still feel like I''ve achieved a lot but I still see things for me to do: movies, projects. I still love entertainment, I am young. I''m going to keep doing it as long as I enjoy it and hopefully we''ll rack up a few more of these." Congratulations to all the winners of the Soul Train Music Awards and especially Ice Cube, for this milestone in his ongoing career. |
