In regular Bush administration fashion, while everyone was asleep the FCC poised themselves to cut a deal with big business Clear Channel, CBS, Citadel and Entercom to eliminate internet radio as we know it; this includes many of the internet hip hop and rap stations that have built great fan bases worldwide.

If you are like most listeners, the homogenized state of radio plundged the masses to seek a greater variety of music and entertainment thru other means. This is why many have opted for I-pod, internet radio, etc.

Now Clear channel, and the other mentioned above, would like for the FCC to impose restrictions on internet radio to force feed listeners back to the same material that had millions scrambling for better programming in the first place.

If this law is allowed to pass it would require a small station to pay 3 times the current rate and require additional staff to monitor superficial information.

In short, a current station would have to pay approximately one and a half times their income. Just with the mere size, that would render 95% of the current internet stations out of business; this includes many hip hop and rap stations.  The only ones that would be able to afford to stream in the internet would be Clear Channel, CBS, Citadel and Entercom. Please we need all true hip hop and rap lovers to go to the site below and sign the petition to stop this from happening.

If this law passes our hip hop station www.TLARadio.com along with our sister stations – www.CRNLive.com : Studio A and Studio B may be forced to shut down; closing a door for hip hop, rap and Latino artists to be heard on the radio.

The hip hop community can STAND UP and make their voices count on these new restrictions. The hip hop community has the numbers to make a difference if only we STAND UP.

This is not just for our stations but for ALL smaller internet broadcasters. Your favorite station may disappear over night if we do not act now.

Go to this link and sign the petition and STAND UP FOR INDEPENDENT HIP HOP BROADCASTING.
