Hurricane Katrina Victims’ Right to Return Demonstration &Hurricane Survivors Assembly will give a voice to the victims.

On Friday December 9, 2006 &. Saturday December 10, 2000 the Peoples’ Hurricane Relief Committee is sponsoring a weekend of struggle where the voice of the victims of hurricane Katrina will finally take center stage. The Bush government; the state and local governments have failed us before and after the hurricane. The government failed to repair the levees; the government failed to have any evacuation plan for those without funds or cars; the government failed to plan to rescue those left behind; and now the government fails to include us in any decision making about money meant to relieve our misery.

We the victims demand that our voices be heard and that we; not FEMA, not the Red Cross, not well-connected businessmen or Democratic or Republican politicians; but we working class, Black and poor people decide for ourselves what our reconstructed neighborhoods will look like. If you share our outrage, then join us for this weekend of struggle.
