The 2nd Annual Stanley Tookie Williams Legacy Summit will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 (1:00pm - 5:00pm) at Merritt College's African American Studies Department, in conjunction with the Stanley Tookie Williams Legacy Network and the Campaign to End the Death Penalty, will host.

Merritt College, Huey P. Newton/Bobby Seale Student Lounge, 12500 Campus Drive, located in Oakland, California will be the site for this summit.

Panel members include Bill Ayers, School Reform Activist; Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago; Barbara Becnel, Founder, STW Legacy Network; Elaine Brown, Former Chairman, Black Panther Party; Committee to Free Chip Fitzgerald; Bernardine Dohrn, Founding Director of the Children and Family Justice Center at Northwestern University School of Law; Gayle McLaughlin, Mayor, City of Richmond; Minister Christopher Muhammad, Nation of Islam; Stan Muhammad, Executive Member of the H.E.L.P.E.R. Alliance Cease Fire Committee of South Central Los Angeles; Elizabeth Terzakis, Campaign to End the Death Penalty; Writing Instructor at Canada College and the Moderator will be Alice Kim, Activist; STW Legacy Network.

December 13, 2005, Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams, co-founder of the Crips street organization, was executed by lethal injection after clemency and a four-week stay of execution were both rejected by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, amidst debate over the death penalty and whether Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams'' anti-gang advocacy in prison represented genuine atonement. After much  support from the hip hop community, religious leaders, politicians and many others Stanley ‘Tookie’ Williams was the second inmate in California to be executed in 2005.
