40th Anniversary of Malcolm X's Murder Print

On February 21, 2005, a commemorative event will be held to mark the 40th Anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz) at the Audubon Ballroom, the site of the tragedy, in Harlem.

The Shabazz family, together with The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center at the Audubon, will celebrate the civil rights leader's dedication to the struggle for peace, justice and freedom.

The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center at the Audubon seeks to transform the site of the tragic assassination of Malcolm X into a basis of support for the international struggle for social justice. This historic landmark has been purposely designed to illuminate the wisdom of Malcolm X and the vision of Dr. Betty Shabazz as a means of promoting global understanding of the universal battle against racial, ethnic and gender discrimination.
