Influential hip-hop group from Brooklyn, New York X-Clan has announced they are gearing up for the 2 month tour supporting none other than Jurassic 5. The 2 month tour launches on July 18 in Seattle, WA and hits key major markets across the U.S. before wrapping up in Las Vegas, NV on September 13.

“I knew from the time I stepped into the booth with Charlie 2na that it was destiny for the X Clan and Jurassic 5 to come together,” says X-Clan’s Brother J. “If you study Hip Hop you wonder who carries the torch of the legendary Hip Hop crews, when you see the J-5 show the realization is clear.  It is an honor to travel with a group that has maintained quality with consistency from the underground to major label status.”

The dates—which follow appearances by X-Clan at the Def Poetry Jam, the Legends of Hip Hop Concert and a 17-date tour with Grammy-winning reggae star Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley --will be surrounded by an intense buzz by X-Clan fans eagerly awaiting the band’s new studio effort, Return From Mecca, which will drop in October 2006. The disc also marks the group’s debut for hip-hop and underground tastemakers Suburban Noize Records.

X-Clan, one of the genre’s most powerful and influential hip hop crews ever, have returned after nearly a decade-long hiatus.  Making its debut in 1990 with the classic To The East Blackwards, X-Clan was at the forefront of hip-hop's cultural movement. With hits like “Funkin'' Lesson,” “Heed The Word of the Brother” and “Raise The Flag,” X-Clan secured hip-hop as a vehicle to advance the science and math of upliftment, popularizing the ideas of Malcolm X, Sonny Carson, Huey Newton, and Clarence 13X, while keeping dance floors packed. Led by Brother J, the Clan’s founder and original lead MC, X-Clan are ready again to move your mind, body and spirit like back in the day.

With the release of Return From Mecca, Brother J and the X-Clan will continue their groundbreaking tradition of displaying ancestral wisdom, culture and a signature lyrical style that appeals to all generations of Hip-Hop.

“J-5 and X Clan on tour will be a holiday for those who enjoy timeless music, showmanship and culture,” says Brother J. “Both of these groups have inspired better writing and content for music enthusiasts worldwide; I think the timing is perfect to re-spark positive thinking in the Hip Hop game.”
