Suffolk County detectives arrested 39-year-old Shawn Moltke on felony weapons charges Friday at his home in Central Islip, where detectives had come to check out a report of drug activity.

Mr. Moltke has told police officials he was in the rap music scene and needed the artillery for protection.

Shawn Moltke aka MC Shan; is the cousin of hip-hop old-school super-producer Marley Marl. He is also a member of Marl's Juice Crew All-Stars.

Inside the Moltke home police officials found an Inter-Tec 9-mm. Luger assault weapon equipped with a silencer, a .32-caliber Luger semiautomatic, a stun gun, a bulletproof vest and a small quantity of marijuana.

Moltke was arrested on charges of drug and weapons possession and endangering the welfare of his children, who are ages 16, 13, 5 and 4, said Detective Sgt. John Diffley of the 3rd detective squad.
