West coast hip-hop producer and rap artist DJ Quik has begun serving a 5 month jail sentence in San Bernardino County, California.

David Blake, aka DJ Quik hip-hop producer/rap artist, was sentenced to the 150 days for probation violation stemming from a family argument in 2003, when he pulled a gun on his sister.

Originally the hip-hop producer pleaded guilty and was to serve 45 days. That time was to be served on week-ends, but DJ Quik never showed up to serve those week-ends.

DJ Quik has had his ups and downs in the hip-hop and rap industry since the hay days of gangsta rap in the 1990’s.

A former ‘house’ producer for Suge Knight’s Death Row Records, DJ Quik has maintained a small fan base on the west coast and has made a good name for himself with his production skills.
