Victim in Hip-Hop Shooting Keith Bender Jr Dies Print

Keith Bender Jr., 35-years-old, passed away early Tuesday at St. John's Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit Michigan where he had been for the past week after being allegedly shot by hip-hop group D-12 member, rap artist Proof; according to Wende Berry, a hospital spokeswoman.

Keith Bender Jr had been listed in critical condition since the shooting at the CCC Club on Detroit’s Eight Mile.

Mario Etheridge, the man who shot the rap artist Proof, turned himself in and was charged with CCW (carrying a concealed weapon) and firing a weapon in a building, Mario Etheridge appeared in 36th District Court Saturday morning and pleaded not guilty.

According to Mario Etheridge’s attorney, Randall Upshaw, the hip-hop rapper Proof pistol whipped and shot Keith Bender. Mr. Upshaw also said that Mario Etheridge, a bouncer at the CCC Club, is a cousin of Keith Bender.

Arrangement details have not been released for Keith Bender Jr.

A public viewing for hip-hop rap artist Proof is being held under extremely tight security until 9 p.m. tonight at Detroit's Fellowship Chapel. The rap artist will be laid to rest tomorrow after an 11 a.m. service at the same location.
