Hip Hop Awards Among Fall Programming on BET

BET has announced their Fall 2006 programming lineup. The new line up introduces a new slate of original programming. Many topics covering hip hop and many other areas are included in the new line up.

Among the programming is the first ever BET Hip hop Awards, hosted by comedian/actor Katt Williams.

American Gangster chronicles the life and times of some of the most notorious crime figures and their huge impact on the hip hop community as well as society.

Schedule Highlights –

BEEF: THE SERIES explores the conflicts of America's hottest celebrities. From the music industry and the sports arena to everywhere in between, BEEF: THE SERIES explores the pop culture conflicts between rivals in every trade. Whether it's Kobe vs. Shaq, Bill O''Reilly vs. hip hop rap artist Ludacris, or hip hop’s Bow Wow vs. Romeo, the controversy is thick and the players are talking in this 6-part series.

NEXT LEVEL: VINCE YOUNG kicks off a chain of series highlighting the lives of star athletes making a transition in their careers. In this installment, BET will follow Rose Bowl MVP star quarterback Vince Young as he makes a name for himself in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans.

BET's first-ever HIP HOP AWARDS will be a high-powered ride filled with blazing performances and stunning presenters. Hosted by comedian/actor Katt Williams, this event promises to be overflowing with star-studded excitement.

AMERICAN GANGSTER chronicles the lives and times of some of Black America's most notorious crime figures. Each episode will investigate the crimes of infamous Black figures such as Stanley "Tookie" Williams, Leroy "Nicky" Barnes, "Freeway Ricky" Ross, and The Chambers Brothers while exploring their huge impact on the community as well as society.

BET J's COMMITTED: THE CHRISTIES is unlike any reality series you''ve seen. Based on the life of NBA star Doug Christie and his wife Jackie, the twosome will captivate audiences with their unconventional style of marriage and unbreakable love.
