Hip hop rap artist known as Jadakiss, aka Jason Jerome Phillips, was arraigned yesterday in a New York court room on one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana and entered a not guilty plea to both charges.

The hip hop artist was arrested early in the morning of October 7, 2006 with two other men, while in Yonkers, New York. Police said they stopped the car he was in after smelling marijuana and then found the loaded stolen .38 caliber hand gun in the vehicle.

"I have yet to see or hear of any evidence connecting my client to possessing this weapon," said the hip hop artists lawyer, Clement Patti, according to the Associated Press.

The hip hop artist faces seven years in prison if convicted when he returns to court in May.

Two of the other arrested men face similar charges.
